Bridge Building With The Cubs
The AMCO team undertaking reconstruction works at Barrow-Upon-Humber were invited to attend a local cub scouts evening where they gave an interactive talk on civil engineering in the rail section.
The opportunity arose following the collapse of a wing wall at Grove Lane thus requiring a diversion to the footpath onto a temporary scaffold bridge walkway adjacent to the station.
The team led by AMCO Project Manager, Shaun Trickett, utilised the Hornby 00 scale model developed by Senior Project Manager David Miller to demonstrate the complex process of installing a new bridge on the rail network.
The evening was a success with the cubs showing great interest in the process and asking lots of relevant questions, maybe a budding engineer of the future attended!
