Catch up with our Environmental Geography graduate!
Dedicated to introducing fresh talent into the industry, we caught up with Environmental Geography graduate, Katriona Millar, on her final day of an 8 week placement.
Integrating seamlessly into our environmental department, this is Kat’s second placement with AmcoGiffen. Successfully creating a comprehensive ecology database, which provides a map of all 1200 ecological surveys undertaken by the company in the last 3 years, her input has generated an organised structure for increasing ecology efficiencies and building strong project foundations.
Matthew Barker, Head of Sustainability, stated that “Kat’s database is a great source of information when planning work, allowing project teams to get an overview of any potential protected species issues. She has also been working on carbon awareness material associated with driving, to assist informed decision making when choosing company cars. It’s excellent to have had Kat in the team - we wish her all the best.”
Preparing to undertake her Master’s degree in Biodiversity Conservation, Kat said “working at AmcoGiffen has been a fantastic experience. It’s opened my eyes to how ecology in business is applied, and how beneficial my speciality is across a multitude of industries I hadn’t considered before.”
