Finalists at the ICE Yorskhire and Humber Awards!
*AmcoGiffen made the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Yorkshire and Humber Awards 2019 shortlist!*
Recognised for the Grade II listed Standedge Aqueduct upgrade in West Yorkshire, we have successfully delivered a new, more modern and reliable structure.
Requiring a number of interventions over the years, we were contracted by Network Rail to design and replace the ‘life-expired’ wrought iron aqueduct deck spanning the existing railway infrastructure, along with modifications and repairs to the stone buttresses, parapets and spillway.
Alongside modernising and improving the 19th century structure, the scheme also utilised Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) material for an innovative design solution for the new ‘twin decks’ that brought significant installation benefits through the relatively lightweight construction.
