High praise from Environment Agency following flood response
We responded to an urgent two-week 24/7 flood support request from the Environment Agency in mid-January this year with team of MEICA trained AmcoGiffen technicians ready-to-respond.
Storm Christoph was predicted to have a high impact on the already high river levels and we were fully prepared and equipped to help prevent risks to life and property damage.
We covered East Yorkshire, York and Selby and South Yorkshire with three teams of two during the day and a single team of three in the highest risk area at York and Selby overnight.
The record water levels meant that a number of pumping stations were at risk of being overwhelmed and the pumping station at Selby Dam reached the highest water levels for the area overnight resulting in a failed pump. Our MEICA technicians managed to complete a pump exchange in less than four hours returning the station to full capacity earlier than expected.
The failed pump was quickly sent to our supply partners, undertaking diagnosis, approval and repair of the failed pump which we were able to return to site less than 72-hours after it failed.
Our dedicated teams were able to stand down once flood levels had subsided and risks substantially reduced.

An Environment Agency spokesperson, said: “Storm Christoph really tested the North West flood defences and MEICA assets, in fact all our assets went into operation across the region from Cumbria to Cheshire and they all worked on demand. We had some minor breakdowns that were effectively dealt with and now in recovery you are still providing fantastic support.
