IT volunteers for local Digital Outreach programme
Since the implementation of our three paid days a year volunteering initiative for our staff, we’ve had a huge and passionate response from AmcoGiffen employees. As a result of this we’ve been helping countless groups and individuals across the nation.
Our latest participants, a six team possé of IT engineers (made up of Robbie Barron, Andy Cave, Scott Gray, Jamie Broadhead, Macaulay Peacock and Dan Tiley) have volunteered at the Digital Outreach Volunteers scheme ‘Lifewise’ run by South Yorkshire Police, to help run the weekly Online Basics classes.
Lifewise is an interactive safety centre in Rotherham led by the South Yorkshire Police & South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
Members of the public can seek technical support on various issues including how to shop online and staying safe whilst doing so, using Skype, uploading photographs, and sending emails. The classes are well attended each week and rely heavily on the support of volunteers to make the classes as successful as they are.
Robbie said: “we are delighted to be helping the local community, sharing our skill set and giving people the tools they need to make informative decisions online”.
