Making History at Standedge Aqueduct
Working closely with Network Rail to provide fundamental upgrades to the heritage-rich, Grade 2 listed Standedge Aqueduct in West Yorkshire, AmcoGiffen are delighted to be playing a major part in the prestigious project.
Built originally in the 19th century, the structure carries an overspill channel from the nearby Standedge Reservoir over the twin track Huddersfield to Manchester Transpennine Line.
Replacing the Aqueduct’s bridge deck with a new, more modern and reliable structure, our teams have collaborated effectively to lift the first of two brand new, fibre reinforced polymer bridge decks during an overnight closure of the railway!
As an exciting, innovative and environmentally sensitive project, you can read more about the upgrades on Network Rail’s website, here.
