Preserving the Heritage of the Railway!
Working under the Network Rail Renewals Collaborative Delivery Partnership (RCDP), AmcoGiffen are delighted to announce the safe and successful completion of all works at Pollokshaws Viaduct in South Glasgow.
As a Grade A listed structure, situated at one of the main entrances to the exceptionally popular Pollok Country Park, we were contracted to deliver masonry repairs and handrail refurbishments to ensure the continued operability, safety and aesthetic charm of the viaduct.
The heritage-rich structure is a five span sandstone and brick masonry arch viaduct located between Pollokshaws West and Crossmyloof stations, and carries the twin track electrified Kilmarnock line over the White Cart Water and the park access road ( Pollok Avenue).
Using innovative rope-access techniques that kept the need to close Pollok Avenue to an absolute minimum and limited the impact on the river bank, we ensured works were complete in time for the school holidays, minimising disruption and inconvenience to the park visitors.
