Protecting Grade A Listed Structures
Looking resplendent in the September sun, we’re pleased to announce that our work to protect the foundations of the Grade A Listed Blackhall Aqueduct in Paisley is now complete, marking another valuable contribution to rail infrastructure enhancement in Scotland for Network Rail.
Addressing a number of logistical challenges and environmental constraints within the sensitive watercourse setting, AmcoGiffen delivered extensive de-vegetation throughout, coupled with scour repairs using rock armour and green-bank installation.
Utilising environmentally friendly proprietary access systems, our supply chain supported our activities with a modular water barrier and pontoon system to get our construction plant and materials across the White Cart Water. Given the difficult access, masonry repairs at both abutments were undertaken using rope access techniques.
Opening in 1810, Blackhall is one of the world’s oldest operational rail structures, and we’re proud to have helped to preserve its rich heritage for generations to come!
