Scottish Rail Resilience
AmcoGiffen keeps delivering for Network Rail across Scotland’s Railway
Continuing our decade long tradition of refurbishing, renewing and replacing assets for Network Rail across Scotland, we were delighted last week to add a brace of completions to our CP6 Portfolio.
Resilience of the railway was increased through scour protection improvements introduced to underbridges at Craggie Water near Helmsdale and Cairnie Burn in Aberdeenshire.
Working within the requirements of SEPA CAR Licenses, we protected the local otter population at Cairnie and at Craggie it was Atlantic salmon. We worked safely, to programme and demonstrated our total environmental commitment throughout.
The use of proprietary canvas mattresses for the inverts saved time and provided added environmental assurance – essential when placing significant volumes of cementitious material in highly sensitive watercourses. On installation the inverts were reinstated with the reclaimed bed material and masonry repairs and bank reinforcements completed the projects.
In continuation of our support to Network Rail during CP6, our teams are now full steam ahead delivering scour protection schemes under the Grade B Listed Findhorn Viaduct, at Rannoch Moor and in Duncanstown Mill
