Selby Dam Pumping Station - Final Lifting Operation a Success
Selby Dam Pumping Station Lifting Operations a Success
Due to the changing climate conditions experienced over the last few years, the Environment Agency undertook a National Flood Resilience Review. As a result AmcoGiffen have recently been undertaking remedial works to Selby Dam Pumping Station. Utilising the stations double height structure has meant all critical assets have been able to be moved above a theoretical 1 in 1000 year flood event.
AmcoGiffen along with our specialist contractor T-Allen Engineering designed and built an access platform which was built around the existing Motor Control Center (MCC) once completed the MCC was disconnected, bespoke temporary lifting equipment installed and the MCC lifted up and through the platform to its new position.
The main MCC lift was the most critical of the station assets to be lifted, well done to the team for a plan well executed.
