WW1 Volunteers March of Coalville
With the majority of our workforce taking part in various activities leading up to Remembrance Day, it was fantastic to see our Commercial Manager, Chris Wortley, join 49 others to re-enact the ‘WW1 Volunteers March of Coalville’.
The "Famous Fifty", from the Coalville area of Leicestershire, were the first World War One volunteers to reach France – and more than half of them never returned.
Their departure from the town's railway station has been re-enacted 104 years later – with ancestors and relatives standing in the place of the original volunteers.
We’ve loved hearing stories from our employees all across the nation who have been celebrating the sacrifice and bravery of those who fought for our country.
